Welcome to the Mazeppa Area Historical Society !

The Mazeppa Area Historical Society would like to invite you, to join them in creating a place to share our memories, photos, and memorabilia of the past, present and future to be enjoyed and preserved by the Mazeppa Community and its visitors to the area.

The Mazeppa Area Historical Society was founded in the fall of 2010, obtaining 501c-3, non-profit status.  All donations are tax-deductible.

An early goal of the MAHS was to obtain a building for displaying and sharing photos and artifacts that can be enjoyed by the Mazeppa Community and its visitors.  The Mazeppa Area Historical Society is proud to have the old People’s State Bank building as our home and Museum.

The mission of the Historical Society is to collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge about the city and surrounding area of Mazeppa.  In our museum we have a research center for genealogy searches, with who’s who of past citizens, businesses, farms, births, deaths etc.

We have a new "Display Window" on the south side of the building, next to the school bell !

City of Mazeppa  1877

Here is a picture looking north into the town of Mazeppa. The photo was taken in about 1877 as you can see the Lake (mill pond) and the 1st Mill which was constructed in 1876 and the RailRoad is not here yet and they came to town in 1878.  Please Click on pictures to see a larger view !
I also include 3 photo's of more close up views.

I thought that I would share this picture with you. Ted Siems was the father of Jim Siems who is the MAHS's vice president. Kenneth Tupper was the Father of Duane and the Tupper boys grandfather. (Matt, Phil, Eric, Pete, and Paul). I recognize the buildings in this picture as those were on the current Tupper farm. These buildings are now gone. - Tom
